Scoring

GOLF Link is the only system that will see every golf club member's handicap stored and calculated nationally. Access to the system will be gained via the Internet using the golfer's personal GOLF Link number.

The national, all-encompassing handicapping network called GOLF Link is now operational at over 900 clubs across Australia including the Cobden Golf Club.

Scoring

Stroke

In "Stroke" we simply count every single shot played. At the end of the round we add up all your shots to give you your "Gross" score.
You then simply deduct your handicap to give you your "Nett" score.
Example :
Golfer with a handicap of 20.
At the completion of the round the golfer has had a total of 93 shots.
Nett score : 93
Gross score : 73 ( ie. 93 less 20 ).

A Good Round :
If you play to your handicap, then your "Nett" score should the par of the Course. A good round is anything under 70 at Cobden.

Stableford

"Stableford" works by obtaining points on each hole in relation to the "Your Par" for the hole.
A "Par" is worth 2 points. A "Bogey" is 1 point.
A "Birdie" is 3 points, and an "Eagle" is 4 points.
Depending on your handicap, "Your Par" for any given hole could be as much as 1 or 2 shots higher than the "Playing Par" for the hole.
Example :
Golfer with a handicap of 20.
This golfer's par is 1 higher than the "Playing Par" on every hole ( 18 ), as well as 2 shots higher on the hardest 2 holes on the course. Listed as 1 and 2 on the Stroke Index of the scorecard.
So if the "playing par" of a hole is a Par 4 then the player with a 20 handicap will get 2 points for finishing the hole with a 5, 1 point for a 6. If they can shoot it in the playing par of 4, they get 3 points!
If the "playing par" of a Hole is a Par 4 and the hole is ranked as 1 or 2, then, the player will get 2 points for finishing the hole with a 6! 1 point for a 7. 3 points for a 5, 4 points for a 4.

A Good Round :
If you play to your handicap, then your score for "Stableford" should be 36. A good round is anything above 36 points.

Par

"Par" works by obtaining a win, a share or a loss on each hole in relation to "Your Par" for the hole.
A "Par" is even and scored as a zero. A "Win" or under "Your Par" is worth plus 1. A "Loss" or over "Your Par" is worth -1.
So if the "playing par" of a hole is a Par 4 then the player with a 20 handicap will get a 0 (zero) for finishing the hole with a 5, -1 point for a 6 or higher. +1 for a 4 or lower.
If the "playing par" of a Hole is a Par 4 and the hole is ranked as 1 or 2, then, the player will get a 0 (zero) for finishing the hole with a 6! -1 point for a 7 or higher. +1 for a 5 or lower.

A Good Round :
If you play to your handicap, then your score for "Par" should be 0 ( zero ). A good round is anything above zero.
