Everyone is welcome to come and play golf at Cobden at all times other than specified competition times.
Thursday Night Chicken Run
Every Thursday night during daylight saving time the Cobden Golf Club holds a 9 hole competition for any person that wants to play golf: - handicap golfers, social golfers, 1st time golfers any person of any age that wants to just try golf. Turn up and be ready to hit off at 4:00pm. Bar-B-Que and trophies presented when all back in the Club House.
Our Thursday Night Chicken Run Golf is an excellent entry point into golf, playing in a social competition, allowing you to understand the game, scoring and meeting other players in a social atmosphere.
Junior Golf Comp
In Term 1 and Term 4 of school we run a modified 5-hole Junior Competition starting at 10am for any juniors under the age of 18.
The rules and course are modified to give the kids a great introduction to golf whilst actually getting to play golf and make some par's!
We send a parent / golfing member around with each group and teach the juniors all about little tips, tricks, rules and etiquette as they go.
The Junior Comps are completely free of charge, and all the kids get a free drink and some hot chips in the clubhouse afterwards.
Social 9-Hole Red Tee Comp
During daylight savings months, we also run a social 9-hole RED TEE competition on Sunday afternoons from 3pm.
These are open to anyone - men, women and juniors - all teeing off from the same tee and its only $5 to play.
You don't need a handicap to play and it is ok to share clubs.
Mens Competition is played most Saturday's with groups going off at both 9am and 12pm timeslots.
Visitors from other courses are always welcome to join us on Saturday's - both men and women - as wellcome as is anyone looking at getting a membership and handicap in the near future.
Our competitions, whilst adhering to the rules of golf, are quite social and relaxed and you will be surprised at how welcome our regular golfers make you feel.
Ladies Competition is played every Wednesday with tee off at 9am.
Our club is lucky it has always had a good number of ladies but we are always on the look out for more girls to come and enjoy the game of golf. Golf is a great way for women to socialise. If nothing more golf is an excellent way to escape the routine of every day life.
If you are not confident enough to jump straight into Wednesday competitions, please feel free to come along to our Social 9-Hole Red Tee comp on a Sunday and we are sure you will be out enjoying Ladies competitions before you know it.
Annual Week Of Golf Tournament
The much loved 'Week Of Golf' takes place at the end February each year and offers great prizes on each day over the event.
Whilst it is dubbed the 'Week of Golf' the tournament actually runs over 9 consecutive days and golfers travel from near and far to be a part of this time honoured tournament.
The final and most prestigous club competition - the Club Championships - take place each year in late November, early December.
The Mens Championship is played over 4 rounds and run in conjunction with the Ladies Championship that is run over 3 rounds.
Both championships are broken into different grades from the Open Championship, to B, C and D grade sections.
The annual presentation evening follows the final day of the Club Championships and all members are encouraged to help celebrate not only the Club Champions, but also all the trophy winners throughout the year.
The Cobden Golf Club and its members are proud and respectful of our rights with our Reciprocal Clubs.
